I loaded the new yahoo toolbar and suddenly my sound went dead. Also my
volume icon in the task bar window dissappeared. I get messages in my
computer that say I have no audio or video playback devices. What happened? I
removed the toolbar but still have no sound. What should I do?

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key: HKEY_USERS. If it doesn't have a Data entry in the right pane that reads: (value not set), double click (Default) and delete it. If it does, check your HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21 keys for the same.

Restore System Default Sounds (Line 6)

well i checked the hkey_users and it said (value not set) so i tried to check
the other one but I couldn't tell because it didn't line up the same way - so
I went to line 6 and restore my sounds. I don't know if it worked yet but
we'll see

I am making progress, I have music restored, but still no volume icon in the
task bar, I think I have normal system sounds too. Thank you for helping me.
I am a little OCD, and this stuff really messes with my head. E Mail me if
you would be able to use the function where you come on my computer and
adjust it. I would like to get my volume control back and have an ally in
this computer age.

thanks no matter what - (E-Mail Removed)

Go to Kelly's site at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click on
"V" and scroll to
Volume Control - The volume icon does not appear in the notification area
(system tray)
for some tips.
