How do I set an audio alert for shared mailboxes?

I have managed to set it up for individual users personal account in
Outlook, but when I apply the same rule for our shared company mailbox, the
audio alert does not work.

1. Is it possible to set an audio alert for shared mailboxes
2. If it's not is there an "add on" product or similiar which will then make
the audio alert possible.

Personally I add the Inbox folder of the additional mailbox to my Favorite
Folders which is enough indication for me to see if there is a new email.
This might work for you too. Depending on your version of Exchange, opening
the mailbox in OWA might work for you too to get a notification on new
email. You can then of course reply by using Outlook. Further workarounds
could be connection to the mailbox by using IMAP.
