Auction items or sell--how?

Local art center director would like have interactive software so that could
view and sell items online and also with capability to set up auction for
items.

Now we have website with FrontPage Extensions for hosting but that is about
it. Is there software someone could recommend that would work with FP
website?

Also what security concerns would have to be addressed?

Thanks for information.

The fact that you are asking these questions indicates that you should hire
someone with the expertise needed to program your site.

You are in over your head.

You are probably right but knowing them, they won't want to spend the money.
It is nice to have encouraging people around like you.

Why not consider eBay?

That is probably the best idea since SSL would not be required. Thank you.

Well, gee whiz PollyAnna. Sorry that you weren't encouraged by my
suggestion. But, handling people's personal and finacial data is no trivial
matter. Are you prepared for the consequences of any mis-steps that may
occur? Is your boss?

How offended would you be if someone told you to use a real pilot after you
asked for instruction on how to fly a 737 across the country and which
direction is Los Angeles?

And, asking if there is some automagical, pushbutton software for FP that
will do it for you, and what security concerns are involved, clearly
demonstrates your lack of suitability for the task.

Would your boss be comfortable saving money by having his butcher perform
surgery on him because the butcher debones a chicken just slick as snot?

I don't object to you information--just your lack of tact!
It is evident from your posts you know what you are talking about. I will
print off your responses and show it to the person who is not my boss.
Perhaps your lack of tact will make more of an impression on her.

Evidently even the pros don't get it right!

P.S. I am no PollyAnna!

Makes ya think, don't it? Imagine the fun that someone who's inexperienced
could create.

Nothing wrong with that.

BTW - The company I work for deals with many of the largest banks in the
country and the three major credit bureaus. Getting it right trumps tact
everytime. Try sitting in on a conversation with a bank suit after you've
screwed up. My perceived lack of tact would seem like warm-fuzzies even in
the feel-good, consider esteem first world you apparently operate in after
one of those sessions.

regardless,
if you really want to do the auction yourself look at www.comersus.com
they've got a shopping cart that does auctions.
