Do a manual System Restore Point. Then Right click My Computer Go to Hardware Tab Device Manager Find your CD Drive Hit the plus sign Right click and uninstall Re-Boot Widows will find the drive and install the drivers, it uses the WinXP drivers. Try installing the stuff on the CD one at a time. It isn't the end of the world to not have SecurDisc. Read up on it on the web. Your drive is SecurDisc capable and it is just an added 'feature'. I expect you should be okay. Odd the install choked. BTW, I forgot I didn't even look at the install cd when I put in my LG, since I already had all the burning programs I wanted. BTW, LG looking at your drive is unlikely to hurt anything. Then..... Get this and install it, you will find it in Control Panel and the icon is called "Startup" Stop any of the Nero stuff from starting when you boot up, you need none of it started to make Nero work. Just uncheck what you don't want to start on boot. http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml |

Since I didn't know what this was I clicked no I have no idea what these were but thought it best to say no since it said it may prevent other applications from running correctly. I'm wondering why it came up with these this time? Is there a way to delete them still or should I? It ended ok despite all these pop-ups, then the system did a reboot and came up fine. I then clicked on Install Nero, then selected Nero Express/Incd It all installed fine with no pop-ups or problems, then the system did another restart and came up fine. I then clicked Nero again and selected SecurDisk but it gave me the same message as it did before and wouldn't complete installation. However there's a SecurDisk Viewer icon on my desktop. I opened this and think perhaps I don't have a current version of Nero which came with the LG drive which is why SecurDisk couldn't complete installation although since both were on the same disk you would think they would be compatible. Along with the SecurDisk icon on my desktop I also have Lightscribe, Cyberlink DVD Suite, Acrobat Reader 5.0, Nero online upgrade, and Nero StartSmart Essentials. I then did the Install Manual and that installed fine. Note: The previous pop-up which asked if I wanted LG to look at my drive and update automatically didn't show this time around. I went to the Control Panel but I didn't see any icon called 'Startup' and I switched from the category view to the classic view. In category view all I see is *Appearance and Themes *Printers and other hardware *Network and Internet connections *user accounts *Add or remove programs *date, time, language and regional options *Sounds, speech and audio devices *accessibility options *performance and maintenance *security center I opened each one up and saw nothing that said 'Startup' The classic view contains: *accessibility options *add hardware *add or remove programs *administrative tools *automatics updates *day and time *display *folder options *fonts *game controllers *internet options *keyboard *mouse *Nero burnrights (I clicked this open and it says my serial number does not allow to start this application maybe this has something to do with me not being able to install SecurDisk?) *network connections *network setup wizard *NVIDAnView *phone and modem *power options *printers and faxes *quick time *regional and language *santa cruz control panel *scanners and cameras *scheduled tasks *security center *sounds and audio devices *speech *system *taskbar and start menu (I opened this up but didn't see anything with Nero) *user accounts *windows *wireless I tried running a game I have on the drive and it worked ok.I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. In passing, while installing the physical drive itself, I decided to remove the 3 1/2 in drive as it was useless and thought it would improve circulation and put a piece of thick black rubber to cover the front to prevent dust etc from entering. I also noticed the hdd connectors and could make out the slave since there was only one and hope it will be a little easier software wise than this has been. Many Thanks, I appreciate all the help, Robert |

I've tried to clean it up to make it easier to read. Ok this is what I've done (its rather long but I wanted to give you as much information as possible so you can advise): I did a manual System Restore Point. Then, right clicked >My Computer >Go to Hardware Tab >Device Manager >Find your CD Drive>Hit the plus sign>Right click and uninstalled. Re-Booted and came up fine. Then I started to install the programs one at a time starting with Install CDS however this time it came back with the following messages which it didn't do the first time. *Found existing version of Power DVD and clicked to uninstall/install *Power Producer has been detected in your system. Please uninstall first. Do you want to uninstall Power Producer? I answered yes. *The file C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\Shared Files\cldsc.dll may no longer be needed by any application. You can delete this file, but doing so may prevent other applications from running correctly. Since I didn't know what this was I clicked no. The following have the same message as above with the exception of the file name. Files\richvideops.dll Files\richvideouninstall.exe Files\richvideo install.exe Files\RichVideo.exe Files\LTWND13n.dll Files\ltkrn13n.dll Files\ltimg13n.dll Files\ltfil3n.dll Files\ltefx13n.dll Files\LTDIS13n.dll Files\LTCLR13n.dll Files\lftif13n.dll Files\lftga13n.dll Files\lfpsd13n.dll Files\Lfpng13n.dll Files\lfgif13n.dll Files\Lftax13n.dll Files\LFCMP13n.dll Files\Lfbmp13n.dll Files\CLImage.ax I have no idea what these were but thought it best to say no since it said it may prevent other applications from running correctly. I went to the Control Panel but I didn't see any icon called 'Startup' and I switched from the category view to the classic view but founhd nothing. However I found *Nero burnrights (I clicked this open and it says my serial number does not allow to start this application maybe this has something to do with me not being able to install SecurDisk?) I tried running a game I have on the drive and it worked ok. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. In passing, while installing the physical drive itself, I decided to remove the 3 1/2 in drive as it was useless and thought it would improve circulation and put a piece of thick black rubber to cover the front to prevent dust etc from entering. p.s. My Seagate arrived today but before I proceed with that I want to get LG issues resolved. Many Thanks, I appreciate all the help, Robert |

I've downloaded Startup but I don't see Nero on the Startup(user) or Startup(common) tabs, so I guess I'm ok? Robert |

I decided to try uninstalling/reinstalling but this time I went into Add/Remove Programs(see my other post concerning this) and deleted each program one by one. That seemed to do the trick because I was able to install all the software with no problems whatsoever, even SecurDisk installed without the error message it was giving me. I'm now going to tackle installing the Seagate hdd. Hopefully there will be no problems. Thanks so much for your help, Robert |
