I did exactly what you said and very easily too I might add. Just one
problem. When I clicked on "sound device" nothing shows up on the right
pane. So now what do I do?

Robin )

P.S. As far as I know I don't have any CD programs to install sounds on my
computer.

You download Everest from the link I gave you.

PS Try to respond in the origonal thread.
You'll probably find it easier if you use a dedicated newsreader, eg Outlook
Express newsreader.

I download Everst Home Edition now what do I do? Why did you mention
contacting you through Outlook Express? I don't have an e-mail address for
you.

I didnt suggest you email, just that you use the Outlook Express Newsreader,
with this it is easier to follow a thread/watch a msg, than by using the ms
news web interface that you are using.
The newsreader can also be accessed via IE under Tools/Read Mail and
News/News

Run Everest
Check in Devices/Windows Devices/Sound, video and Game controllers
see what is listed

Also your system should have come with installation cd's, apparently it came
with a win cd, there should also be a motherboard/drivers cd

In Everest, Reports/Quick Report - Devices, PlainText
Were interested in what it says for Sound Video and Game controlers
Copy & past this section
Whilst your at it, again in Everest, select motherboard,
Quick Report, Plain Text
Copy & paste
Motherboard ID and Name

Outlook Express Newsreader, is believe it!, a newsreader that allows you to
log on, read newsgroups, which is what your posting to in the crappy web
interface
In the newsreader, set up a news account, the server being -
msnews.microsoft.com -

http://www.asrock.com.tw/product/product_m266a.htm
is the web site for your mobo, from here you can download a manual, and any
drivers

You need to visit drivers section and download and install all the drivers
listed for *your o/s*
I did'nt physically download any, but often they may have instruction text
file included. It might be an idea, when downloading to place each in its
own folder.
The file downloaded may be either a self extracting installation file or it
could be a file that extracts, you then have to install by running a setup
file.

If you contemplate updating the Bios, ensure you read the *instructions
first* if you do it incorrectly you may kill your sys. So dont touch unless
it cures a specific problem.

You probably set up the account incorrectly.

Server: msnews.microsoft.com
Connect: always use, drop down, select your connection.

Then view Folders, select, msnews.microsoft.com
follow prompts.
