two weeks ago after a complete reinstallation of Windows
XP, Windows update has automatically updated my windows
XP. However, after I do a restart, I find that my CD-ROM
drive is missing in my computer and windows explorer. I
put a CD or VCD into the CD-ROM but XP just doesn't read
any disc. Even some Software with autorun option doesn't
load. There is just no response from the loading light
after inserting the disc.
I have searched the microsoft knowledge base but couldn't
find any solution to this problem. I wonder if other users
had such experience. I don't wish to update one by one to
check the cause of the problem as it takes too much time.
Does anyone have any idea with the problem?
