Attending a meeting incognito

Hi, I was trying to be a silent participant on a meeting today and the
organizer was onto both me and the person who forwarded me the request.
Can anyone help me figure out how he knew? I accepted the request to put it
in my calendar but I was very deliberate about not sending a response to the
meeting organizer. I rechecked my sent items and confirmed a response was
never sent. Could the organizer have turned on some special tracking
feature? Are you automatically notified when someone forwards one of your
meeting requests? Is the organizer always automatically notified even if you
click do not send a response while accepting?

Thanks for the help!
