Attempt to release mutex not owned by caller

Every time the PC is rebooted it goes through the New Hardware Found
Wizard and reinstalls the HP 5650 printer even though the printer has
been installed numerous of time before. Sometimes I get an "Attempt to
release mutex not owned by caller" Error. And other times I get a
"Access Denied" Error. Called to HP Tech Support, the tech said to
reinstall Win2000Pro then try. I can not believe that they would even
suggest such a thing. Does anyone have any ideas or has run into this
problem before. Thank you for any assistance in this matter.
