Hi MrFloppy,
Depending on the type of the attachment,(lets say Word.doc)
Go to Control panel
Folder options
File Types tap
in the file types window click the WORD.doc
click the "Advanced" button
Uncheck "Confirm open after download"
and OK.

Hi Dave,

I guess I wasn't very clear with my Question in Microsoft discussions
yesterday……

While in Outlook, I double clicked on an attachment as usual. A dialog box
opened I chose “open file” rather than the “save file” option, since there
where several of them, I unchecked the”remember my settings” box. So now
every time I double click an Attached file it is opened immediately. (No more
dialog box)

That’s ok I guess. I can still save it within the program that opens it. I
just liked it better the other way.

I did do what you suggested but that setting was correct, and I surmised
wasn’t related.

So, if you understand my question now and know the answer, I’d sure
appreciate your help.

Thank you for your time,

Rob Steingraber

Hi,
To get the dialog box back, just check "Confirm open after download" instead
of unchecking. ( as my previous post )

As my previous post.........
I wrote "the confirm after download button was already checked". It didn't
fix the problem.
Thanks anyways.

Hi,
Is this with all attachments or specific file types only?

Jpegs. when I double click on a jpeg or jpg it imediatly opens it. It used to
first open a dialog box asking me if I want it to open it or do I want to
save the file.
Then below in the same dialog box, There was a check box to "always ask
first".
By default the box is checked to "ask first".
I unchecked th box so I could quickly open several jpegs one right after
another that where attached to a particular E-mail message.
Normally there's only one or two pics to open so I prefer to chose to save
first, then view them later.
I hope I'm getting clearer in my discription of my little pain in the neck
question.

Thanks again,
Rob

OK, 'Folder Options|File Types', locate the JPG (and/or JPEG) file type,
select it, click the "Advanced" button, and add a checkmark to the "Confirm
open after download" checkbox.

Hi Dave,

I didn't thank you earlier. After my brain came back to life, I went to
"jpeg".
You wrote.... "Depending on the type of the attachment,(lets say Word.doc)

I went to "word doc" like a retard.
Anyways, I'm back on track. Thank you for your patients and help.

Rob Steingraber
