Attachments in forwarded messages are garbled but fine in new mess

When I send a new Outlook message to a particular recipient using Outlook
2003, and the e-mail has an attachment ina format such as pdf, jpg or wmv,
teh recipient can open the attachment. If, however, I forward an e-mail with
the same attachment to this same recipient, the attachment appears as garbled
text within the e-mail message. Any idea what I need to do, or the recipient
needs to do on their side, to coorect this problem?
