Certain email attachments cannot be open. I recall in
windows 98 and outlook 5.0 downloading a service pack and
then haveing to modify it to open these attachments. I
do not recall what I had to modify. Can anybody help.

In OE / TOOLS / OPTIONS / SECURITY / VIRUS PROTECTION / and UNcheck "Do not
allow attachments................." / APPLY / OK.

In OE go to Tools | Options | Security and uncheck "Do not allow
attachments...".
