After the recent set of MS patches to my Windows XP pro system and our
MS 2003 Server some setting has been changed causing my attachments to
compress. Any ideas what might have been changed? Or how to fix this?

Is this an Exchange server that you connect to?

Yes.

Are all users affected or just you? are you using zone alarm or winzip?

As far as I know, it is just me.

Are the attachments converted to zip or other files? Are there errors opening
them?

If your PC is fully patched and the server as well, was everyone else's PC
patched at the same time?

Zone Alarm no.
Winzip, yes, but that was installed a LOOOOOONG time ago. The problem
started after the last set of MS patches to come throught.

I don't know if anyone else is having the issue. Nobody has complained
about my attachments other than to ask why they are now compresses when
coming from me. The bottom line, it seems that MS stepped on some setting.
