Hi,

I have the following problem with Outlook:

I'm using Exchange 2003 and Outlook XP. When someone sends me an e-mail with
attachment and the attachment has an extension ".p7s", when I receive the
e-mail using an Exhcnage Profile , Outlook doesn't display the attachment.
If I receive the message using POP3 Profile ,Outlook displays the attachment.

How to make Outlook display ".p7s" attachements when using Exchange Profile?

I don't think it is Outlook doing this but some corporate security settings.
Does the attachment show up when you look at your mailbox through OWA?

No. It doesn't show up. I don't think it's corporate security settings
beacause for example 2 weeks ago I have received an e-mail with .p7s
attachment and it was visible in Outlook.

If it doesn't show up in OWA either it is not Outlook which is causing you
the issue but it appears that the attachment somewhere got dropped before
delivering it to your mailbox.

Here is what I did:

1. Someone sends me an e-mail with "p7s" attachment.
2. I open the e-mail while it's still in the Exchange Mailbox with Outlook.
The attachment is not visible
3. Than I start Outlook using POP3 profile and download the e-mail locally.
The attachment is now visible.

If I download the e-mail locally using Exchange Profile the attachment is
not visible again.

So I don't think the attachment is dropped. Outlook doesn't show it if I"m
using Exchange Profile.

That's a digital signature.

Do you see the line "Signed By: <address>, with a small red ribbon on its
right above the body or the message? That indicates the presence of the
signature. It shouldn't show as an attachment, although you may see the
paperclip icon. However, I don't think it should work differently for
different mail transports, either, so I'm not sure why you see it as an
attachment for the POP account.

No. There is no small red ribbon icon.
The p7s file is generated from the sender the following way:
1. There is a program called "DSTool". This program signs with a digital
signature any kind of file.
2. For example: I have a file "test.doc". When DSTool signs the file it adds
the .p7s extension, so the signed file's name is "test.doc.p7s"
3. The same program is used to verify the siganature and to extract the
orginal file - "test.doc"

If you right-click on the header line of the message, is there a "Save
Attachment" option?

Well, then, you may have something on the Exchange server that is removing
the attachment.
