hi
i'm using Outlook 2003.
Everytime i receive emails with attachments (Excel or Word), the attachment
filename was truncated.
For example, The full attachment filename is " Attachment filename
truncated " but when i received, the filename is " ATTACH~1.DOC " .
Please advise.

Hard to say without knowing more details.
Could be the message format, could be virus scanner software, could be the
mail server, could be lots more...

That is not truncated. You are expecting the long filename for the
file. What you see is the 8.3 DOS filename for the file. It all
depends on how the sender attached the file and what e-mail client they
used. Ask the sender.

I this particular example, you're seeing the 8.3 (DOS) version of the file
name, which is a valid name and results from how the sender attached it, I
suspect.
