I have 2 computers. One has Outlook and the other Yahoo mail. I have
downloaded PowerPointViewer 2007 so that I may view the file type "pps". It
works with Yahoo mail but not with Outlook. I can save the "pps" file and
then access it, but I can not access the attachment directly from Outlook.
The error message says that there is no file type "pps", but there is.
According to the file types that are restricted by Outlook "pps" is not one
of them.

So, how can I look at "pps" file types with Outlook??

What is the exact error message in full?
Try clearing your SecureTemp folder. See;

The exact message is "This file does not have a program associated with it
for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options
control panel."

But you did install the PowerPoint Viewer on that computer already?
And you can also open the pps-file when saving it first to disk and then
double click it?
As the error suggests, verify that the pps extension is properly registered
to be used with the PowerPoint Viewer. Control Panel-> Folder Options-> File
Types

Just to be clear, there is no such option in Outlook that will prevent this
from working as Outlook isn't responsible for how attachments are opened;
that is up to Windows itself.

Yes, the PowerPoint Viewer has been installed. Yes, I can open the pps-file
when saving to disk first and then double clicking it. Yes, the pps
extension is properly registered. By going to Control Panel, Folder Options,
File Type I see pps.

It would seem reasonable to assume if I can open the pps-file using the save
and click procedure it would be properly registered, would it not.

I will have to be honest with you, looking at the steps to clear the
SecureTemp folder look a little much for this novice.

As the article states; use OutlookTools. You can't go wrong then. It
autodetects the folder for you, you can open it to review what's inside and
it has a button to empty the folder.

I have had a number of problems installing OutlookTools, but finally
successful. Now I get a message "Error: Could not determine location of
outlook.exe. If Microsoft office outlook is installed incorrectly please
contact support at: (E-Mail Removed)"

How does a simple user know whether or not Outlook is installed properly or
not? I have used it for many years, so it would seem to be properly
installed.

Thank you
