All of a sudden when every I try to attach any file to a message, outlook
shuts down before I can even select the file. It doesn't matter what file or
where. I never get that far.

I have done all types of virus and malware scans and appear to be clean. I
have not loaded anything new that I can think of that would affect Outlook.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you run Detect and Repair from the Help menu? Have you tried running
the Inbox Repair Tool on your .PST file?

It's a file called scanpst.exe -- search your hard drive for it. If you're
not sure where your .PST is on the computer, go into Outlook and right click
the root folder of your personal folders, then click Properties, then
Advanced. The file path is in the Filename box. Make sure you allow the
Inbox Repair Tool to make a backup of your .PST file before it makes any
changes.

Well, I ran the utility and it found errors, fixed them and I rebooted and
tested. I still have the same problem.

Any other ideas? I'm fresh out of them.

Thanks

You can check for other ideas at
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/sc...tm...sometimes running the inbox
repair tool several times works, but there are other things you can try also.
Another thing you can try is creating a new mail profile. Instructions for
creating a new mail profile can be found at
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm.
