I'm having a couple of problems w/ .jpg files in Outlook Express. When
someone sends me an image file as an attachment I cannot open it. The file
name is grayed out. And sometimes when there are images in the message body
itself, the images do not download. All I get is the "red x" box. I do not
have my settings set to block images. Can someone please tell me what to do
to correct these issues. Thanks for your help.

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? If it's Outlook, see if the info
