Is there some way to tie a sound bite with a picture or video clip in a
larger grouping of video/audio slips (project), so that when you insert new
pictures or video or sounds into the timeline, they stay tied together.
Every time I insert a new picture it pushes all the pictures to the right but
doesn't move the audio clips with the pictures. I then have to readjust the
starting position for every audio segment.

Try saving the combined picture/video
and audio as a separate Movie File.
Then reimport it and place it position
in your larger project.
