I had to replicate a user profile on my server due to some corruptions, and I
copied in the old outlook.pst. However, when I launched Outlook it created a
new Outlook1.pst as the default, and I can't get rid of that and attach
instead the original Outlook.pst. In the process of trying I've created extra
personal folders that i can't get rid of and it is a real mess. The questions
seem to be:

1. How to get rid of the unwanted personal mail folders.
2. How to attach the original outlook.pst datafile, use it as the default
and get rid of the outlook1.pst default.

Help or reference to a technical document would be very appreciated. Thanks...

Richard

Copying a PST into the folder whete Outlook creates PSTs by default doesn't
do anything. It certainly doesn't configure Outlook.

Open the old PST with File>Open>Outlook Data File. After adding the PST to
your mail profile, change the delivery location with Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Next. Stop and restart Outlook. FInally, right-click the unwanted
PST and cchoose Close.

Next time, transfer Outlook's data correctly. See

Dear Brian,

Some of the extra folders would not delete or said that the file could not
be found. It was such a mess that I decided to create a new Profile for the
user and do it correctly per the link you gave me. Everything is back now
except the email connections and we can re-configure that. Thanks for your
help.
