Ok I got round to buying the ATi All in wonder X800! And I've fitted it but nothing is happening. Its not recognising it or anything the manual says to search for my PCI express controller in device manager so I can update the driver, but no such option appears in device manager. When the card is plugged in my monitor doesnt work and plugging it into the new card doesn't work either. Im not sure what to do from here its obviously conflicting with the current card but I dont want to disable incase I have no screen whatsoever. Suggestions?

When you plug your new graphics card in, it should override the onboard graphics card. So just to check, you've plugged it in (firmly) and connected your monitor cable to the new card, and nothing appears on your monitor at all? Even when you first turn it on?

Nope nothing at all. Like I said it seems to be that when the card is in it does override the onboard card as I have no display at all. The only other thing I can think of is that the card doesnt have a VGA(?) slot but has a connecter to connect one to one of the other ports on the card. But this should still work as all the connections are sufficient. It is definately plugged in right cos like I said, its noticing its there by not allowing the other card to display. I haven't had chance to update the display drivers but will do it later see if it makes a difference.

If you can't see anything when you first turn your PC on, then the drivers won't make a difference unfortunately as you aren't in Windows yet. It could be that the connector is causing a problem, I'm guessing its a DVI > VGA one? It might be worth trying a DVI monitor on it if you have access.

Was there an internal power connector to the card when you first fitted it?

Alf, I'm trying to ascertain, in my sarky way, as to what MB we are dealing with.

Yeah I meant onboard, I just worded it stupidly. Ok....I have a VGA to VGA cable that came with the computer and I have connected this to not the DVI slot but to an adapter that fits in another slot on the back of the card, the slot is small and the adapter has a large metal end to it I can only find it described as the All-In-Wonder X800 PCI express card. Im hoping that if I just buy a VGA to DVI cable I will be fine...perhaps?
