ATI TV Volume controls not working

OS : Windows XP SP1
Video : ATI All in Wonder 128 Pro
Sound : Built in on m/b Gigabyte GA7 Pro

The problem is this : I can receive the TV pictures via MMC 7.2 &
listen to the sound OK, but the on-screen ATI volume & mute control
have no effect on the sound whatsoever. I have to use the Windows
volume control to alter the sound levels. Does anybody have a
solution to this problem ?
