AtI to TV connection

I have been using my 9600 pro video card and it wroks fine except lately
I lose the settings that let me choose my tv as the promary display. I
usually have both the monitor and the tv as the primary display,
however, after I hit the green corner of the tv bar in
desktop/properties/settings/advance/displays/ , there are often no
primary and secondary buttons next to the illustration of a tv, so I
can't tell it to be a primary display. The only way I can get the two
primay/secondary buttons back is to reinstall the video card. There must
be a better way.
