Hey Jonathan

Finally a solution to the problem of msn messenger 6/6.1
not working with the ATI 3D Rage LT Pro graphics card has
been resolved, the issue as such is a combination of some
sloppy msn messenger 6 programming code and a poor device
driver present with the windows xp cd. To fix the problem
the display driver has to be disabled under device
manager. When the machine is restarted it loads the
default no frills display driver for windows xp. the
resolution should be changed to 1024 x 768 resolution
with 16 bit colour mode and the option of animating
windows being maximised and minimised under performance
should be disabled, this enables msn messenger 6/6.1 to
work correctly without the freeze.

Whilst this fixes the issue a better fix would be to
repair some sloppy msn messenger programming code and
also for microsoft to release a new driver for the card
that is compatible with msn messenger 6/6.1.

A similar freeze was accociated with acrobat reader 6
until this solution was put into place.

Thanks for all your help jonathon, if you could please
pass this message onto programmers working on msn
messenger and programmers that design drivers it would be
greatly appreciated,

Thanks again.
..

Greetings Marcus,

Great news! I'll forward this on. One wonders what Acrobat and Messenger are both doing to
cause this to happen...
