Hi all, can someone tell me what this means?

Its coming up in event viewer. And I think it
has something to do with setting the video out
on this videocard (ATI 9550), which is
running at 1440x900.

(I'm using an LCD as the main monitor).

I've only just formatted and reinstalled the
latest ATI drivers.

It's ok when I dont select video out, it stays at 1440x900

BUT, once I select the TV as the 2nd monitor it reverts
back to 1024x768, when I reboot. I have to change
it back to 1440x900, everytime it reboots or once I restart.

Is it because this resolution is too high for the TV (it did work before I
reformatted, or is it the refresh rate (which is set @ 60).

Any info appreciated

Thanx

This happened to me a few weeks ago, the newest drivers for the ATI card
requires
dotnetframework 2.0 for it to work right, since you just reformated did you
download the 2.0 framework?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/t...eacb-4362-4b0d

I noticed during the install it said that this was required, well written
software would have stopped the install but the new drivers kept going
(shame on ATI).

Umm, yup the.NET 2 files are installed.

I forgot about them when I first installed the the ATI drivers (after I
reformatted). The install told me to install .NET 2.0

So, after I had installed .NET 2, I uninstalled the ATI drivers, cleaned the
ATI drivers out with Drivecleaner Pro. and reinstalled them.

Yup you're right shame on ATI!

It did it to me previously too, but before I did the recent install,. they
were fine, and so was setting the res to 1440x900. When I rebooted, or
restarted, the res stayed at 1440x900.

Well, I even formatted to fix this prob.

Installed .NET 1.1 and 2, before the ATI drivers

Its still does the same thing lol.

So obviously installing .NET 2, after I installed
the drivers, made no diff. And it still reverts back
to 1024 instead of 1440 on startup. If I've enabled
TV out.

I have always found this to be true and happened all the time when I enabled the S-Video output, whether as main or secondary display. only way to get the main display back to higher res was to turn off the 2nd display setting main back to monitor.

also the ATI install program has stopped and requested the install of NET to continue ,for me for a long time.

of course mine is a 9800 AIW and not a 9550. might make a difference. but the download file appears to be the same.

Hmmm somehow it worked. How I dont know!

It now boots @ 1440x900. And stays there.

With the 2nd monitor / TV enabled.

But the error that I posted before is still appearing.

Oh well, at least I dont have to change it all the time
(the resolution).
