Because every so often it seems one's forced to update WDM drivers etc. to
keep current with the display drivers. In itself not a bad idea but at some
point one must also add more Microsoft crap to the mix.
For example, it looks like I'll need to do a complete clean re-install to
get rid of the screw around of having a "Microsoft TV/Video Connection"
entry automatically added under network properties bound to TCP/IP using ip
3.0.0.1. This happened when I installed Cat4.2 (which required WMEncoder,
3.7 requires MDAC etc. etc.) Now, even though I've removed the entry, if I
start Video-In (reverted back to 7.7 and Cat3.1) it "kills" any internet
connection (which it's done ever since installing the Cat4.2's).
It just wears thin with numerous emails between myself and ATI's tech
support being useless.
Perhaps not really ATI's fault but at the same time it's they that design
their software to use Mircosoft crap so ...
