Hi u all,

I keep having troubles with ATI products... for a couple
of months I get the following error (a qoute from event
manager): The driver ati2dvag for the display device
\Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually
indicates a problem with the device itself or with the
device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please
check with your hardware device vendor for any driver
updates.

I had the same error with the GigaByte 8500 and then again
with the Hercules 9800. Both cards work fine in other
computers.

The problem is inconsistent. It may happen every 15
minutes and then every couple of days.

I have Asus A7V-133 board with AMD XP 1600 and (yes) I use
the last updated drivers from ATI.

Plz advise.

Have you tried updating the bios for your motherboard (at this stage of the
motherboard's development, you will have to get the latest beta bios as
development is likely done due to the age of the motherboard).

Also make sure you get the latest AGP drivers for your motherboard (should
be in the latest 4-1 drivers from Via)

If you have the option in your BIOS settings try turning the DDR RAM
voltage from "auto/SPD" to manual and then a voltage setting of 2.56v.
Doing this has cured this problem (which isn't due to graphic card drivers
or make of graphic card, despite what the error message indicates) on
several PC's I have "repaired" over the last year or so.

HTH,

Trev

This board will support the 8500 but not the 9800. (difference
with voltage). All traces of the old drivers must be (deleted,
uninstalled, whatever). I use driver cleaner from driver heaven
in order to get results.

That won't help. I had the same error with my last nVidia card (Geforce3).
Switching to a ATI 9500 solved the problem.
