I'm running a 9800 Pro and am having trouble with it posting on "cold"
boots, I'm quite sure it's a limited power supply issue. I was wondering
what and when does the card logo/information appear on screen. My old
Nvidia showed up almost instantly, but this one doesn't show at all. The
first thing that comes up is the motherboard graphic.

Thanks Ben, I thought that maybe the card was lagging behind the rest of
the boot and that I was missing the logo.
My problem is that, when the computer is first turned on the monitor
screen is black (no video). The rest of the boot proceeds right along
(just judging by the amount and length of disc activity), I allow it to
finish, wait a few moments and then shut it down. I then restart and
everything boots up ok. Once it is running it runs great, no problems at
all.
After looking around, I'm convinced that it's the power supply that is
limiting the amount of current that is available to the board and that
it isn't quite enough to fill the capacitors and boot at the same time.
By booting twice, I charge the caps the first time and then with the
residual amount of charge left in the caps when I boot again there is
enough to initialize the card. ATI mention this as being a problem with
some power supplies. I've written to ATI and Antec, ATI have responded
with a generic Faq letter, I checked everything off without any positive
result.I have yet to hear from Antec. As I say, the board runs great,
I'm really happy with the performance, It's just getting it to run is a
bit of a bother.

Are you saying that your display is powered up too late? Like you never see
the video-bios and post screeens? If yes, then the same was the problem with
my old ATI 8500LE card. Sometimes it would power on when i windows was
loading, and not before. Just so you know, that card is DEAD now.

I think this is common with ATI cards, and not to worry about. I never see
any video-bios version screen with my powercolor 9600SE card either.

No, what it appears to me happens, is that on the first boot of the
computer the display does not power up, I have to shut down and re-start
to get the display up and running. Ben mentioned that there is no logo
to see on boot, but I do see all the other post screens, but only on the
second time around, first time is complete blank.

If the video card failed to power up, I would suspect that the BIOS would
fail POST and complain to you, usually with a serious of beeps from the
system speaker. But lack of power is a funny thing, almost anything could
happen.
