I installed XP pro on my system(clean install) and
downloaded the drivers from the ATI site. 90% of the
timewhen I startup/reboot the installation "hangs" after
the XP screen goes away. The Num lock/caps lock/scroll
lights on the keyboard flash, then nothing. My monitor
thinks something is happening, it doesn't go into stand
by just sits there with a blackish screen. If I reboot in
safe mode, it boots every time. I downloaded the driver
update from the Windows Update site, yet the problem
persists.

Any clues?

How do you know it is an ATI drivers issue? Other than hanging, is there
any error messages that appear at any time.

Boot to safe mode and remove all the video drivers for ATI. Then when you
install the drivers you must follow the instructions on ATI's web site
exactly or you will not be able to load the followup programs for the AIW
card.
