WIN XP Pro with SP2
ATI AIW 9800 Pro

Help !! I seem to have got myself into some kind of driver preoblem. I had
this card installed OK and was playing around with it ( stupid), I now
cannot get the drivers installed. If I try to install from Windows normally
it tells me to go to VGA mode to install, if I go to VGA mode and try to
install it comes back with "An error ocurred in the installation. The
parameter is incorrect" If try to use the ATI uninstaller it comes back with
" Error initializing"
Device Manager at present shows Video Controller and Video Controller (VGA)
both with red crosses.

Help, I seem to be stuck in an endless loop. I promise once I get it fixed I
won't monkey with it again

Please define "playing around with it."

Eg.: Did you remove the card to admire it or clean it? Did you try
overclocking it? Or whatever you did?!?!?!!!

Hi
Try to start Windows in safe mode (F8) and delete all the files in
%systemroot%/system32 and %systemroot%/system32/Drivers whose name
starts with ATI and try to start the driver installation procedure in
safe mode.

Just a generic hint : cancel the card in control center or what ever,
pull it out of the box, restart/shutdown, re-insert the card.
That's the usual way under windows get a card recognized as a new device.

and install
