I just purchased the ATI 9600 128 MB Pro and as soon as I installed the card
I began to have the following problem: Every minute or so the screen will
just go blank for a couple of seconds and then resume.
I cleaned all the old drivers before installing the latest ATI drivers and
also all the Windows patches are up to date. Also I reinstalled direct X,
defragged the disk and followed the directions about making changes in the
Bios. There is no option for fast writes in the Bios however.
My set up is: XP home, P4 2.4 and a gig or Ram. I need help because I do
not know what else to do! Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the card is not getting enough cooling.

Sounds like an old driver issue. Short of scouring your computer and
deleting offending registry lines you have but one choice. Bite the bullet
and reformat and reinstall your OS. Life will be much simpler for you.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I called ATI this morning and after
a few checks they decided that the card was most likely faulty! So I took it
back to Best Buy and exchanged it ...just finished installing it and so far
so good!
What was puzzling was the fact that my old card was an ATI as well and never
had a problem!
Thanks again and I am keeping my fingers crossed!
