Hi,
Pls download the user guide from ATI website: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...asp?deptID=894 Read carefully for all the info contained by the user guide. Download the utility tools from ATI to fully remove the old ATI stuffs. Ask your friend with broadband modem to download and burn the 5.4 Catalyst drivers and burn it to a CD for you to install. Care: make sure to download the correct drivers for your card. For example, if your card is a All-in-wonder card , download the All-in-wonder Catalyst drivers. If yoyr card is just an ordinary Radeon card, download the Radeon Catalyst drivers. Link: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27 I would suggest the following ways to re-install the ATI drivers: 1. Run regedit to delete the upper and lower filters of your CD-rom/DVD-rom Start/Run/regedit/ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Right click on the upper filter and then delete. Do the same for lower filter, if any. Care: Backup the reg. keys before delete the keys, right click on the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and select Export, save the file for reg backup for just in case. 2. Change the display resolution to VGA mode then reboot. 3. Remove all the old ATI stuffs using the utility tools downloaded from ATI Pls read this link: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27 Below is part of the info from ATI website: 2) Removal Instructions a) Go to Add/Remove Programs located in the Windows Control Panel b) Run the ATI Software Uninstall Utility. Restart the machine once prompted. c) (Should this utility not be present, it can be downloaded from the CATALYST?- ATI Maintenance Utilities page. d) Remove the DAO/MDAC component and any remaining ATI software from Add/Remove Programs e) Should items fail to remove, select the appropriate link below for ways on manually deleting items from the registry. Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q310750 Windows 2000: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;243723 f) C:\Program Files and verify that the ATI Multimedia folder no longer exists (This folder may exist in another location, depending if the installation path was changed during the initial setup) g) Empty the Windows Temp folder by going to C:\Windows\Temp h) Verify that the ATI Technologies keys are removed from the Registry by performing the following: i. Click START, select RUN, and type "REGEDIT" ii. Should references to ATI still remain, they will need to be deleted. First, create a backup of the Registry. iii. From the menu bar, choose 'Registry', then 'Export'. Save the registry backup file to your desktop. Double-clicking the saved file will allow you to reverse any incorrect changes made to the registry. iv. Once the Registry has been backed up, proceed to remove any references to ATI from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE. i) Restart the computer j) Close all other applications running, including any live monitoring anti-virus software, before attempting to re-install the ATI software. Windows 2000/Windows 4. After all the old ATI stuffs is successfully removed, reboot the PC. 5. Temporary disable any antivirus software by running msconfig and disable the antivirus software under the startup tab.. Make sure there is no antivirus software is running at the background. Install the ATI Catalyst drivers that have burned on the CD. Do not disturb until you are prompted to follow the installation instructions. After the ATI drivers is successfully loaded, adjust the display resolution to your desire. 6. Re-install any burning softwares, Nero, Roxio, etc. 7. Re-activate antivirus software by running msconfig again. Pls post back if it helps. Peter "Lori A. Kuiper" wrote: > I am running Windows XP Professional. I have reinstalled the ATI driver 5.4--without the WDM component this time.
I can burn CD's with Nero and all Nero programs work fine except for the DVD player. Now I get 2 messages One says that the Event ID 7 for Incdm cannot be found--the local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event \Device\MrwR00000000. What in the world does this mean??? There is also another message that says Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of InCD_GUI_MAINFRAME_1A630D67_3515_471D_8D7D_C8E76EC0DA2A. I have no idea what this one means either. There is no one around here with broadband because it is not available in my area. I have downloaded the drivers and then burnt them to CD with my other driver files. I just transfer them to my harddrive and install from there. If I reformat and reinstall again and this time install the correct video drivers--would that be likely to resolve the problem? I usually install my burning software before I update my video drivers. From what your saying I should do this after I load my updated video drivers? HI,
InCD is the packet writing tools for use with the CD/DVD R/W disks. When InCD detected a blank CD/DVD R/W disk, it will format the disk so that you can use the formatted disk as a big floppy disk. It is including in the Nero burning kit. What version of Nero you are using? I think you need to go to add or remove program to remove the nero burning rom and InCD then run msconfig to disable the antivirus software at startup. Reboot the PC and make sure antivirus software is not running at the background then install Nero burning rom and InCD again. Reboot the PC and check to ensure Nero and InCD are working properly. Run msconfig again to reactivate the antivirus software. You may also go to nero.com to download the updates for your nero burning rom and InCD. The latest version for inCD is 4.3.11.1 BTW, if you plan to clean install XP again, I would suggest you to be well prepared as follows: 1. download the latest XP compatible chipset drivers, on-board sound chip/Lan drivers from the mobo manufacturer's website 2. download the latest XP compatible drivers for your sound card, vedio card, lan card, etc. 3. download the latest update for Nero burning rom/Nero Express and InCD 4. Burn all the downloaded files to a CDR in different folders so that you can easily install the drivers and update drivers easily. You may also update the mobo BIOS if it is too old for XP but you must be very careful and fully knowledgeable to do this as an improper update of BIOS may turn your PC to a dead stone. I already have the newest BIOS, and motherboard drivers for my PC--it is
only 1 year old. I am not running ANY antivirus software so that cannot be the problem. I am using the built in Windows XP SP2 firewall and have scanned daily with online antivirus scanner and my PC is clean. I also ran AD Aware and have no spyware. I already ran the INCD clean tool and the general clean tool before I reinstalled Nero. I am running the most current version of Nero-dated April 13 or 14th I believe--6612. It seems that everytime I install INCD it screws up my PC. How do I get this to work correctly? If I put a blank CD RW disk in my drive now, I get the Nero Smartstart--It does not auto format the CD. I did all of what you suggested and still have the same trouble "Peter" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:43239ED4-6409-41ED-AF66-(E-Mail Removed)... > HI, > > InCD is the packet writing tools for use with the CD/DVD R/W disks. > When InCD detected a blank CD/DVD R/W disk, it will format the disk so > that > you can use the formatted disk as a big floppy disk. > It is including in the Nero burning kit. > What version of Nero you are using? > > I think you need to go to add or remove program to remove the nero burning > rom and InCD then run msconfig to disable the antivirus software at > startup. > Reboot the PC and make sure antivirus software is not running at the > background then install Nero burning rom and InCD again. Hi,

If I put a blank CD RW disk in my drive now, I get > the Nero Smartstart--It does not auto format the CD. Are you meaning that the system hanged when you install the InCD software? If you can't install InCD, of course you can't format the CD R/W disk. Have you download the latest InCD 4.3.11.1 from nero.com? Pls try download it from this link: http://nero.com/en/nero-up.php Get it from the Update Package 3 and install it. Pls post back to NG Peter "Lori A.
