I built a new system with a new install of Win XP Home. The Athlon 2400 was first recognized as an 1800+ and everything ran great from the first start. However if I set the FSB to 133 (default for 2400+) then the system will spontaneously restart after no more than a few minutes, sometimes immediately. The problem persists in Safe Mode as well. I get a brief glimpse of a blue screen that states there is a driver problem but Windows is unable to identify the driver. I have all the current chipset, audio, and video drivers installed. The bios has been updated as well. I have removed my sound card and disabled the onboard sound, which has made no difference. I have run memtest numerous cycles at fsb's of 100 and 133 with no errors at all. It is a little difficult to monitor temps as the system restarts so quickly, but I don't think cpu temp has been higher than 45c. Please help

Shuttle AN35 Ultra 400, MSI ti 4200 video, Turltle Beach Santa Cruz sound, Seagate 7200rpm 40 GB HD, Sony DVD/CD drive, Enermax 430w psu, Zalman copper'flower' cooler, Apacer pc2700 512mb (one stick

Have you tried a fresh install after you changed the FSB.??
There is a possibility the memory has a compatibility fault I had a similar
problem when I upgraded to a 1Ghz Athlon, with the bus at 100M it ran as a
750Mhz fine but at 133M it would fall over I changed the memory stick & all
was well. Try a fresh install first though to be sure it isn't something to
do with that.

best of luck

Thanks for the suggestion. AMD support also suggested the memory as the source of the problems. But why doesn't Memtest show a problem? I'll try another stick. I bought the Apacer 2700 at a very reasonable price. I had heard very good things about Apacer pc2100 memory, but since have found out that Apacer's 2700 is not as good. I suppose that's what I get for being cheap
