I am working on a old computer and would like to find a 8GB or so ATA33
HD. I have searched Ebay and other sites but no luck. Any ideas where
I might find one?

Have you considered trying an ATA100 drive? It should be backward
compatible with an ATA33 hard drive controller on the old PC's motherboard.
Of course, the data transfer of the new drive will be limited to the ATA33
speed of the controller.

As for capacity, I assume that you want 8 Gig or so to avoid a BIOS limit of
some sort? If the BIOS limit is 32 Gig, note that many 40 Gig hard drives
have a jumper to limit them to 32 Gig. If the BIOS limit is below 32 Gig,
then conisder installing an ATA100 PCI card and attaching the new hard drive
to that. Not only will it support larger drives, but it will be faster than
the ATA33 controller.

Otherwise, ask friends if they know anyone who is thowing away an older PC,
with a smaller hard drive.

Also try small PC shops. Some of them keep parts form older PCs, so that
they can perform repairs.
