ATA100 vs. ATA133 hard drive

My Gigabyte 8IHXP motherboard supports RAID 0,1 and I
decided to try RAID 0 out. It turned out my system got
unpredictable so I give up on RAID. I switched the new
DiamondMax 8 ATA133 drives back to normal with no RAID. I
figured I would get some performance gain over my prior
ATA100 drive. My system runs slightly slower with the
ATA133 drives. Is this due to the third party drivers for
the Promise ATA133 function on my board? I'm thinking to
set the ATA100 drive back up with the OS on it and put
the ATA133's back into a RAID configuration and use them
for the temp folders, swap file or pagefile.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
