I have an asus p2b rev. 1012, ms6095 master adapter slot 1 fc pga , a
pentium III fc pga 700 mhz, 1,7 volt, 100 mhz. Could you help me how to
set the jumpers on the adapter. I've tried all the different settings
but it doesn't boot. I think that the porocessor vcore is too low.
Thanx, Mimmo

I started my search here, after I figured out what the real
part number was :-)

http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/1999...ualcel-02.html

"The MS6905 Rev. 1.1 does not have the voltage jumpers of
the Asus S370, but it also enables dual-mode for Celerons
by default."

There are some manuals here. To my untrained eye, it looks like the
V1.1 slocket might only support PPGA processors. The V2.0 and
V2.1 slocket have a Coppermine jumper.

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...=E6905v1.1.exe

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...=E6905v2.0.exe

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...=E6905v2.1.exe

Since you mention the word "master", that implies you have at
least a version 2.3. There is some info on this site, as to what
is supported. Note - I had a browser crash visiting here, so
only visit this site if you are well-armed :-(

(Note: You do not need to do the mods on this page. They are
for Tualatin Celeron processor.)

Next, check this page:

Roland says your 1012 revision of motherboard has a voltage
regulator capable of less than 1.8V. If that is true, you
don't need to set the voltage to 1.8V, as the Vcore regulator
on your board should be able to support the processor. I would
think a VID jumper setting of "Auto" is called for.

Roland also has a section listing recommended slockets. The
MS6905 version 2.3 is a definite "yes" while the version 2.0
is a maybe.

My conclusion ? It isn't a voltage problem. Maybe it has
something to do with the Coppermine jumpers ? I'm not really
sure about that, because I don't know what those jumpers do.
I don't know whether the Pentium 3 needs those jumpers or not.

Perhaps one of the veterans could help out here :-)

Other than the Coppermine jumpers, it should be working.
You could try verifying the Vcore regulator part number, just
to be sure it is the correct type. See the sample part numbers
listed in Rolands FAQ - HIP6019BCB HIP6004CB HIP6004BCB US3007CW
are the good ones.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help,
Paul

I'm not much help as I have not used MSI slot adapters, however I
wouldn't rule out voltage just yet as I suspect we don't know the
motherboard revision level - 1012 is a common BIOS revision level, while
board revision levels are formatted 1.xx

The OP should verify the Vcore regulator part number as you suggested.

Oops! You're right :-)

I confused 1012 BIOS with 1.12 motherboard revision. By all
means, verify the motherboard revision, by looking at the
number printed on the board. If the P2B revision is less
than 1.12, then the VID voltage jumpers should be set ot 1.8V .
If the P2B motherboard revision number is greater than or
equal to 1.12, then setting the VID to the auto jumper
settings should work. Checking the part number on the Vcore
regulator chip, will remove all doubt.
