I also use OE to read news groups and also emails.
I tried to associate eml (from OE) with Outlook 2007 but could not.locate OL
email.exe.
Help would be appreciated. Jorge

Dear Jorge,

Are you using Office 2007 on Vista or on an older version of the Microsoft
O.S.?

If the File Type exists in "My Computer" > "Tools" > "Folder Options..." >
"File Types" (tab) than that would seem to me there is SOME application on
your system that already utilizes the .EML File Type association.

Can you post additional information about your system (i.e. XP, Vista) and
Office install (i.e. "clean" 2007 install, versus Upgrade to...)?

>> CAUTION!! <<

* * * Take detailed notes regarding Settings as you find them in case you
have to Undo and changes YOU attempt. Proceed at your own risk!! * * *

On my XP Pro system my .EML File Types entry is associated with "Internet
E-mail Message" and only contains an "Advanced" > "Actions:" of "open" and
the "Application used to perform action:" value for that field is
["C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /eml:%1]

(as written with quotes not including the square brackets [] )

A little further down is a field labeled, "Application:" and it contains:
[msimn]
(no quotes in this case)

I hope this is of some help! Best wishes!

I installed Office 2007 (not update), which is run under WinXP Pro SP3.

Initially, I did exactly what you descrigeed. So eml associated with
OUTLOOK.EXE because I could not find anything to do with Outlook email exe.
This did not work.

Jorge

I don't believe you can read eml files with Outlook.

correct. it either needs to be associated with OE or mail - or notepad if
you don't mind reading it in plain text.

in windows xp, the exe for eml files is msmin.exe
