My computer crashed. I have new one with motherboard ASUS and activated
setup XP After setup was done I found drive letters has been assigned to
4 hardware items, 3 for built in card reader C:, D:, E, and 1 F: for DVD
drive.
WINDOWS had been installed on Grive.
At startup it has a notification "Cannot find hard disk" C: was used for
card reader.
Because many programs look for C:drive for dll's or other needed files I
want to change the G:drive into the C:drive.
I reassigned drive letters C --> F to M --> P and C: became available.
XP does not allow changing G: drive into C: drive.
Please suggest a solution.

I have never had a problem installing WinXP on a partition or drive
other than C: That said if you are determined to do it just reinstall
WinXP on the C: partition.

Disconnect the card reader.
Install Windows XP clean again.
Do not connect the card reader or other external drives (just have the CD
drive and the drive you are installing on) until you are done.

Although other solutions might work - chances are they will not work fully.
