Hey folks,
We've set up an MSI package for the Google Toolbar with customized
options. We're able to publish this in Add/Remove Programs and it
works like a champ. However we want to assign this package so the
program is automatically installed on every computer in the office.
However, when we've tried, to assign it, all the options we'd set
don't get applied (AutoFill, News button, etc. are still on). Is
there a way to assign this MSI with the customizations still intact?
Any help here would rule.

By the way, we're using Windows 2000 Server, and Win2K Pro.

That sounds like a problem with the MSI. Does it configure the options if
you run the MSI manually? You may want to try recreating the package.

The MSI isn't the problem. If you double-click the msi, it configures
the toolbar according to the specs I created the msi with. If you go
into Add/Remove Programs, click Add New Programs, and Add the Google
Toolbar, it installs properly, with only the buttons I want selected
showing.

As I understand it, if you assign an msi to a user, it adds the Start
menu icons so the user can add it on demand. But since Google doesn't
have any Start menu icons, nothing gets shown. If you assign an msi
to the computer, it should automatically install the program. The
Google Toolbar installs, but the toolbar shows up with the default
options the toolbar originally installs with. It SHOULDN'T be a
problem with the msi, but I've been wrong before. I just don't see
how the msi would be at fault.
