I have created a button that I want to assign a macro to. I am fairly certain
I have created the right type of button, and the 'Assign Macro...' option is
avaliable on the drop down menu when I'm customizing the button. However,
once I select the 'Assign Macro...' option - nothing happens whatsoever.

The same lack of action happens when I use the 'Modify Selection' button in
the Customize dialog box.

My office has just udpate the Office suite to 2003.

Any help?

Hi Al,

I can't replicate your first problem so can't help there. Perhaps someone
else can.

The second problem: You can only select Modify Selection if you select a
button on one of the active toolbars first.

Hi Al,

I can't replicate your first problem so can't help with it. Perhaps some
else knows the answer.

The second problem: You can only select Modify Selection if you select a
button on one of the active tool bars first.

I initially had a problem posting this so my apologies if you get it twice.

Regards,

OssieMac

No no... I mean that the Assign Macro option isn't working when accessed from
the Modify Selection button either. For some reason its not accepting that
'Assign Macro' is actually an option!

My apologies Al. I misunderstood your question. Anyway I can't replicate the
problem so can't help.

hi,
from your post, i suspect your problem may be "I am fairly certain i have
created the right type of button."
there is only one icon button you can assign a macro to and that is the
smiley face button. you can assign macros to built in icons but they already
have built in micro soft macros assign to them. how did you create this
button? more detail please.

I double clicked on empty space in the toolbar to open the Customize dialog
box, then in the Commands tab I selected Macros from the 'Categories' window
and dragged the Smiley Face 'Custom Button' from the 'Commands' window into
the toolbar. I have done this just now to double check - and I still cannot
get any response when I select 'Assign Macro...' from the drop-down menu.

If it helps - I have no trouble Assigning a Hyperlink. And I can run macros
the old fashioned way no problems.

Thanks for the help.
