Assign Keyboard shortcut to 'Mute'

I have a Microsoft Internet keyboard. How may I assign one of the
customisable shortcut keys to mute the sound, which I had on my previous
keyboard? Mute does not appear in the list of commands I can assign
shortcuts to, so I am left with assigning it to a program.

Thanks for any help.
