ASPX Button and SmartNavigation = True

Anyone aware of a problem of setting a SmartNavigation to True and having an aspx button on a page with a response.redirect on the button? It seems the redirect doesn't work. The page either reloads or becomes blank and finishes. It works fine on a local development machine but when you upload your site to server offsite and try to click on the button, the page doesn't go anywhere...
