I am running Win XP Home SP2. Been having some burning problems with my DVD
burner and then the computer gave me the BSOD, minidump and an IRQ_EQUAL_TO
etc. I assumed from all this that I have a hardware or software problem.
Upon restarting the computer (having first disconnected my DVD burner - as
it was the last piece of hardware I fitted recently) I received a MS error
message and a request to submit an error report and the reply from the MS
site was that it appeared the cause of my problem was a device driver. I ran
"aspichk" and this was the answer I got:

LOG0143: *****************************************************************
LOG0144: Starting ASPICHK installer on Tue Jun 07 20:00:34 2005
ASPICHK0438: OS = Windows NT (5.01.2600)
UPGRADE1004: c:\windows\system32\wnaspi32.dll dated 08/14/2002 05:03:36,
45056 bytes.
UPGRADE1062: c:\windows\system32\wnaspi32.dll version 4.71.1.0
UPGRADE1004: c:\windows\system\winaspi.dll dated 08/14/2002 05:03:36, 5600
bytes.
UPGRADE1062: c:\windows\system\winaspi.dll version 4.6.0.1021
UPGRADE1004: c:\windows\system32\drivers\aspi32.sys dated 08/14/2002
05:03:36, 17005 bytes.
UPGRADE1062: c:\windows\system32\drivers\aspi32.sys version 4.71.1.0
UPGRADE1004: c:\windows\system\wowpost.exe dated 08/14/2002 05:03:38, 4672
bytes.
UPGRADE1062: c:\windows\system\wowpost.exe version 4.6.0.1021
ASPICHK0522: Inconsistent version numbers among components
ASPICHK0592: ASPI installation has problems
LOG0218: Closing installer log on Tue Jun 07 20:00:34 2005
LOG0219:
*****************************************************************

I have Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 plus Nero 6 Express installed on my
computer. It would appear that I have an ASPI problem and my question is:
how do I uninstall these "drivers" and re-install correct ones?
Thanks.

The following link is a page that discusses how to check your ASPI drivers
and how to update them.
