Much to my surprise, when I went to the users account I found an account
named ASP.NET. The account is a restricted account BUT, I didn't make
it, nobody else uses the notebook (XP1 PRO) so how did it get there?
Anybody?

Is it OK to remove or is some software dependant on it?

Thanks
vm

ASP.NET is set up at the same time when .NET Framework is installed.

That's kind of what I thought, that's why the question "is it software
dependant?"

Do you know if it is needed?
Do you know why it is created?

Vic,

Microsoft have an http://www.asp.net website

The account is used in IIS when hosting your own sites. If you decided to remove all
versions of the .NET Framework then it should be removed although some instances don't
clean up properly

For more info you can post to:

microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet
