Asking for password??

I have come across a very interesting glitch. If anybody has run into this
and found a solution, please let me know.

I have a Database set up in Access 2002. It works fine. I DO NOT have a
password set up for it. Here comes the problem (stay with me please).

I was typing up a word document detailing instructions on how to use the
database. I put a hyperlink into the document pointing to the database. The
Hyperlink works just fine. The glitch is when I try to open the database by
going to the actual files, I am asked for a password. I cannot open the
database because I have never set a password for it. No matter what I type in
the password dialog box, it tells me that password is not valid (which it
should because I never set a password).

Has anybody ever run into this? Anybody know how to get into the database
without having to use the hyperlink in the word document?

Your help is appreciated.

Is it asking for a password, or a USERID and PASSWORD?

They indicate two totally different issues.

To expand on my previous post, it looks like opening your database using a
hyperlink in the Word document was the direct cause of your problems, so you
probably don't want to do that anymore:

Database password prompt appears after you open a database by using a
hyperlink or by using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code in Access 2002
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322860/EN-US/

If my answer has helped you, please answer yes to the question that reads
"Did this post answer the question?" at the bottom of the message thread.

In all likelihood, you have corrupted you database beyond repair. Did you
make a backup copy?
