I just hate it when I accidentally close out Outlook thinking I am closing
out an open email. It should ask if I'm sure like all the other programs do,
that usually annoy me, but in this instance I would appreciate it. Is there
a setting in Outlook for this option. If I have numerous things up on my
computer I like to keep Outlook first and when I accidentally shut it down, I
have to shut down everthing to get it back to first.

There's an addin called OLKeeper that asks whether or not you really want to
close Outlook. For details see the link in my signature, please.
