I splurged yesterday to buy a vista capable machine (Athon 3200/1GB Ram
etc) and I knew I wanted PCIe hence I had to buy as new card. My old
comp is a 1.6 Ghz Pentium, with a 4x AGP slot and a 9600 Pro (Omega
drivers).
I was in the local TigerDirect store and saw a card I hadn't seen
online or reviewed before. A Diablotek X700 Super. I thought this would
be a Pro - it had 512MB of RAM onboard. TV/DVI out etc. I come home and
set it all up to discover its an SE card - ok but nothing special for
the price (on par or slightly better in the benchmarks with an nVidia
6600, but a little more expensive).
I installed Omega drivers and tried OCing with not good results.
I installed Call of Duty - an old favorite, and it does not display the
text in the initial launch screens. I tried uninstalling the Omega and
installing from the provided CD, but the same problem persists. ATI's
website mentions some call of duty problems but nothing that helps.
I am deciding whether to dump the card.
Any ideas?
