I set up a folder for individual manual archiving using a rule archive
before 10/7/09. After archiving the folder still has messages back to
3/7/09. These messages do not have "Do not archive" checked. Am I missing
something about how to run this procedure?

I went through the procedure to add "Modified" to the fields displayed in
the messages. You were right about that field being the reason for the
archiving behavior, but another question is raised. For some reason, in
this particular folder, the dates "Modified" for the messages in question
are all exactly the same 12/14/09 while the dates received range from
10/6/09 back to 3/07/09. What action(s) would cause this behaviour?
