I need to reduce the size of my Personal Folder. I belive archiving to be the
best solution, but I but I understand from MS Help that Personal Folders are
not subject to AutoArchive AND that you have to manually archive each
sub-folder within a Personal Folder. Archiving each of my sub-folders
manually will be extremely time consuming and not practical in my
circumstance given the extensive sub-folder system. Any suggestions?

I have used MS's Persaonal Folder Backup tool, which has allowed me to
safely store a duplicate of the Folder, but has not reduced the size of the
Folder. Plus I am using a POP email account, which directly dumps my emails
into a Personal Folder so I have no choice but to use a personal folder for
my email organization system.

No, you don't need to auto-archive each folder. You can set the general
properties here: Tools menu > Options > Other > AutoArchive
