Archiving calendar and inbox items

Hi at home i archive all my old items and they go into a folder which is
automatically placed at the top of my folders list. I have tried to do the
same thing at work but it will not place the archive folder in my folder
list. am i doing something wrong or is there a way of getting my archived
items to show in my folder list

File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... and then point it to your archive file.

Thank you. Is there a way of getting it to show in my list of folders so
that i can access it easily while i am in Outlook
