Archive modification date

I have a user who has multiple Archives which are 1 - 2gb in size. He never changes anything in the Archives yet the modification date randomly changes to the current date. This wouldn't be a problem except they are stored on a shared drive which is using mailto:Continuity@Work to synchronize between the shared drive and local computer. When Continuity runs, it sees the Archive as a new file and tries to synchronize the 1/2gb file. My question is, is there any process in Outlook that would just randomly change the modification date of the Archive just because it is attached to Outlook?

Thanks,
